The Craft of Christmas Gifts
I’m all for home made Christmas gifts. I mean if you have the time and skills to make something for your loved ones than nothing can be better than to craft something by yourself. I have minimal crafting skill. I make really good holiday cards but that’s about it. I can’t exactly mass produce Christmas holiday gifts for everyone on my list. I guess some people have it and others don’t...

For those who don’t have it, I absolutely beg them to stop trying or get lessons before their next attempt. I send Christmas gift baskets to my neighbors around Christmas and I add a hand crafted card as a personalized touch. One of my neighbors was under the impression that I make these Christmas gift baskets myself. I assured her I didn’t posses the skill or the time for something like that. But that didn’t stop her from trying to match her skills with that of the store people. She went around one year handing out Christmas gift baskets she had made herself. The stuff inside was an assortment of things from cookies to movie tickets to ornaments and what not. It was hard to guess what the theme of the basket was.
She had decorated it with just about every type of decoration available at the craft store. It was full of tinsel, ribbons, stickers and bows. Of course no one said anything and she took the expression on my face to mean I was impressed. When someone finally told her that her Christmas gift baskets were horrible, the poor thing cried her heart out. I felt personally responsible. I bought a special Christmas gift for her; a fruit bouquet. They make really great Edible Christmas gifts and good food helps heal the heart. It was like giving Christmas fruits only much better. She absolutely loved it. Her home was full of handmade stuff. I had never known she was so interested in crafts. I gave her the address of a place where they offered crafting classes. Her Christmas gift baskets have improved but she always send me one of the fruit bouquets I got for her and I love them!

Christmas Surprises and Edible Christmas Gifts, I had the last laugh
Last year I spent Christmas at my sister’s house. She has three kids aged between three and ten. And those kids are fast not to mention oddly squishy. They can crawl under and into just about anything when they’re looking for the Christmas gifts. So last year when I arrived at my sister’s place I was already in stealth mode. For those of you not familiar with the Hit man Game, stealth mode is basically me sneaking around my sister’s house trying to hide something. That something would be Christmas gifts.
I moved into the house when the kids were out playing and my sister helped me hide my Christmas holiday gifts. This wasn’t easy because all the good places were already housing my sister’s Christmas gifts for her family. I actually had to hide some of my smaller Christmas gifts under a loose floor board in the attic. Then there were the Christmas gifts waiting to be wrapped. They included most of my Christmas gifts for my sister so she found out what I was getting her. All surprise was instantly killed and I realized that my hours of shopping for unique Christmas gifts for everyone would amount to nothing when it came to my sister’s gift.
I suspect she even took the one gift I had managed to wrap and shook it to get an idea of what’s inside. Brought me memories of kindergarten, my teacher used to tell us it was very rude to shake a gift before opening it. The house looked more like ‘Operation hide Christmas gifts’ than anything. What I didn’t like was the fact that none of my gifts for my sister would be a surprise. There was only one way around it; super stealth mode (not featured in hit man). I went online and searched for something that could be delivered to my sister’s doorstep as close to Christmas as possible. It had to be something that didn’t need wrapping. There were a lot of Christmas gift baskets out there but they would deliver at least a week before Christmas and the wicker baskets were too big to hide anywhere. I finally stumbled on to these edible Christmas gifts. They were available in a lot of sizes. They were pretty unique and beautiful to look at. I ordered the small size and asked a neighbor if she’d store it for just one night and she said she’d love to. Everything worked out! My sister loved the Christmas fruits and the unique way I had given them to her. And she loved the surprise of it.

Christmas Fruits: An early Christmas gift for my three year old
Last year I was baking some Christmas cookies and watching my three year old play. I was momentarily distracted when I had to answer the door. When I came back into the kitchen, my three year old had snuck over to the counter, climbed a chair, by passed the cookie jar and found one of his Christmas gifts.
When I cam back to the kitchen he was sitting on the floor peeling the wrapping off. I was absolutely shocked. I had hid it behind the cookie jar for the very reason that he’d be more interested in the cookies than what was behind the cookies, should he ever manage to reach either one of them. So as I stood in the kitchen in utter amazement, my son continued to peel away the wrapping. He was only three and there are just so many things you can say to a three year old.
I took the gift from him and hid it again. He didn’t cry about not being able to open an early Christmas gift and I thought he was ashamed at being caught sneaking early Christmas holiday gifts. I sat him down on the sofa and asked him in a very reasonable voice if he really thought his Christmas gifts would make him just as happy if they weren’t opened on Christmas day. His answer left me speechless. He said I should let him open one or two and we could both find out if he was happier that way! I was actually shocked that an answer like that had come out of a three old, my three old! I tried to reason with him, I told him how hard mommy tries to find unique Christmas gifts for him and that she wants to give him lots of nice surprises on Christmas day. He told me I was trying to concentrate his happiness.
We talked for an hour and it ended with me telling him it was wrong to open Christmas gifts before Christmas day. Two days later I received two Christmas gift baskets from neighbors and I was just going through them when my three year old asks me ‘Mommy, will that present make you happy even if you’re not opening it on Christmas day?’ rats! I tried to explain to him that they were early Christmas gifts. He said he’d like to trade all his Christmas day gifts for early Christmas gifts. I can’t believe he hasn’t even started school yet. After another hour of discussion I decided he could have an early Christmas gift like mine. I thought fruit baskets for Christmas would make a nice early Christmas gift and I found these wonderful edible Christmas gifts made of fruit, they were called fruit bouquets I ordered him one. It had fruit cut like flowers and dipped in chocolate. He graciously shared it with me and told me he was very happy with an early Christmas gift and to ‘keep ‘um coming’

Christmas Gifts For Kids Who Want A Pet
I think children are under the impression that parents are more willing to let them have small pets as opposed to big ones. My son seems to think so. He’s been asking for a pet for four years now. It started with ‘can I have a monkey?’ and has come down to ‘can I have a hamster?’ my daughter is consistent; she wanted a pony three years ago and she still wants a pony now. Our discussion about Christmas gifts revolves around animals year after year.
Most people would say I should get them a pet, especially since they’re asking it for a Christmas gift and their Christmas wish list doesn’t revolve around toys. The thing is both my kids are allergic to fur. They say they’ll wear space suits if they have to, they just want a pet. That’s cute and all, but nothing furry is coming near my kids. This makes getting Christmas gifts for my kids really hard. I mean I know what they want, but I can’t get it for them. On Christmas day when they see all their Christmas holiday gifts and nothing is wagging a tall or squeaking, they’re always a bit disappointed. I try and make up for it by getting them stuffed toys but they don’t like ‘fake’ stuff.
What on earth are my kids made of? I think I have one of those smart kids that people talk about. I mean these kids need seriously unique Christmas gifts to make them happy. The only universal rule they follow is the whole ‘love for food’ thing. My kids like anything unique to eat. I don’t mean they want Chinese or something; they just like a well decorated plate. Which is why they always join me as I dig in to the Christmas gift baskets I receive. They love those things because they are so beautiful. They’re favorites are the Christmas fruit baskets. So basically my kids are non-materialistic health food loving simple kids. I can live with that.

Kitty Love On Christmas
Some of the things I absolutely love about Christmas are the lights, the cookies, decorating the tree and of course Christmas gifts! One thing I truly hate at Christmas time is baby sitting someone’s cat. If you want to make it worse or see astonishing fits of rage, make it a sick cat.
Now I’m not sure what would be a good time to have kids. I mean I want kids and I’ll have them at some point. What I can tell you is that there is no such thing as a good time to have a cat. Just picture it; you’re sitting on the sofa, the vintage really expensive sofa, all comfy with a blanket and a cup of cocoa. You’re looking for some nice Christmas gifts online and the cat comes and throws up… on the sofa. If it wasn’t for the SPCA, I’d have killed that fur ball! So the cat was sick for three days, and I had to take it to the vet for a check up. You think health care is expensive for humans, try taking a cat to the hospital! The doctor said she missed her owner. I finally have something in common with the cat. She belongs to my friend who had to visit her sick aunt and asked me to care for her pet. I mean why not, after all Christmas holiday gifts buy themselves. It’s not I have to go Christmas shopping or anything!
So it’s been about two weeks since I’ve had the cat. And my friend has been sending Christmas gifts for her cat. I get Christmas gift baskets. I’m not complaining but the whole Christmas gifts for your cat sounds insane to me. I mean the time I spend looking for unique Christmas gifts for human beings is absolutely ridiculous but people have time to buy Christmas gifts for their pets! I absolutely adore the Christmas gift baskets my friends been sending but I think she’s going quack with the cat gifts.

Keeping My Head In The Christmas Game
Our phone hadn’t been working for a few days and I kept telling my boyfriend to call the phone company and complain. After being nagged for a week he said, ‘Why don’t you call and complain; you’re good at it!’
We are not speaking to each other. It’s pretty hard to not talk to each other now since we live together and we need the communication to discuss our Christmas holiday gifts. On the good side the phone is working again and we didn’t even need to complain. My boyfriend thinks its divine reason to stop fighting but I’m still upset with him. I don’t complain… much. I mean I do a normal amount of complaining. I think I just up my game in December. It’s a stressful time for me, buying all those Christmas Holiday Gifts and wrapping them and putting the tag on them. Every year I swear to myself that I’ll revert to buying Christmas gifts baskets for everyone. I mean they’re like a really easy, yet unique gift. I’ve never heard of people saying no to Christmas gift baskets. Of course every year, I swallow all the TV ads and catalogs and magazines and go looking for shiny stuff that’ll make unique Christmas gifts.
Now that I think of it my boyfriend is the one person who can keep me grounded to reality. I think I’d have maxed out my credit card if it hadn’t been for pointing out that my mom doesn’t want a play station. Rats! That means we will have to stop fighting. But it’s for the Christmas gifts, so what the hell. He wanted to stop fighting first so in a way I still win.

Christmas Breakups And Holiday Sympathy
Breaking up is bad, but breaking up around Christmas is really bad. Like ‘sympathy from every single person in the family’ bad. A few years ago, a cousin of mine broke up with her boyfriend. They’d been dating for two years and she didn’t take it very well. I mean it was heart wrenching for all of us just hearing about. He could’ve waited until after Christmas. Didn’t Christmas gifts mean anything?
Okay I’m not being very tactful or nice about this. I was seriously upset about it when it happened but my sympathy died in the days leading up to that Christmas. I mean she milked that break-up for all it was worth. We were bringing her Christmas gift baskets and cookies every day. And then she started delegating us her Christmas shopping. Almost everyone was running gift errands for her. My sympathy was holding up fairly well. I tried to get her to buy some of her Christmas holiday gifts online and showed her some of my favorite sites in the name of ‘Family Ties’ and ‘blood being thicker than water’ and stuff. So what killed my compassion? I had graciously allowed her to use my laptop for her online browsing.
And she went browsing into my things! She came across my list of ideas for some Unique Christmas gifts. I’d been developing that list since October! And she copied all of it! Imagine me sitting and planning and beating up my brain finding unique Christmas gifts that fall in my budget and she goes and poaches them all! She was absolutely shameless about it. And since we have a ‘no fighting at Christmas’ rule in the family I couldn’t do anything. I got her a gift certificate for her Christmas gift, it was the only way I could vent my frustration. I’d been planning on sending her one of those Christmas fruit baskets because she loves them, but I can only be so generous.

A Christmas Party For My Mom
Last year the job of organizing the family Christmas party fell to me. I’ assuming my mom passed it on to me is because she thinks I have time to spare with work and buying and wrapping Christmas gifts. Mom thinks that if you don’t have kids, you have all the time in the world even with your 9 to 5 job and taking care of the neighbor’s dog.
I can’t imagine how I could’ve said no. I mean my mom has super powers. I can’t say no to her on a normal day, around Christmas, it’s impossible. So I’m like ‘yeah mom, I’ll do the party this year, you relax, want me to buy your Christmas Holiday gifts for you?’ I’m a complete sap for this emotional stuff my mom pulls. It starts out with a hopeful look and ends with a long sigh from my mother. Another reason I couldn’t say no to the party was because she asked so formally.
She put on her church dress and brought one of those Christmas gift baskets for me and holiday cookies. Normally I always visit her because she doesn’t like me living in an apartment. It was like her third visit so I was too happy to keep my head on anyway. I may be a grown girl but when it comes to alone time with my mommy, I’m about three. She stayed for three hours and gave me some really great ides for unique Christmas gifts. It’s like she is the Da Vinci of unique Christmas gifts. So with all that mommy love and the really awesome early Christmas gifts, I just couldn’t say no. The powers that come with motherhood!

Shopping For Better Value Christmas Gifts
A lot of people will tell you to start Christmas shopping early, as early as you can. I don’t agree. If you start looking for Christmas gifts in October, or worse, if you start buying Christmas gifts in October than how on earth will you get the black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts? Or buy a Christmas special from your favorite company? I wait for Thanksgiving to be over to start my actual Christmas shopping.
I love the spirit retailers have when they lower prices and cut good deals. It’s something only Christmas could inspire. I never get serious about Christmas holiday gifts in October. I look around stores and pick out items that could make really unique Christmas gifts, and then I wait for the discounts to start. If my chosen item isn’t available for less and no Christmas specials appeal to me, I go looking for something different. But this rarely happens. Practically everything is available for a better price, even things like Christmas gift baskets.
It’s hard to believe but these items have great discounts in the days leading up to Christmas. They’re one of those timeless Christmas gifts and since there are so many types of Christmas gift baskets available, I have a larger selection range. Then there are the greeting cards. I think by mid December stores are just dying to sell them off. Prices fall fast! So while a lot of people begin looking for Christmas holiday gifts in October only to end up wrapping them up to the last minute, I save my shopping and whatever holiday hassle I’ll face for December.

Money Is Not The Object Of Christmas Gifts
When I was in high school, I used to think I had it really hard on Christmas. I mean I had so many people to buy Christmas gifts for, and a limited budget! My mom, my dad, my brother, my sister and most importantly all my friends. I thought it would get easier when I’d get into college. Boy was I wrong. I thought I had money problems in high school; college is like living in a third world country. So I patiently waited to get a real job and guess what, Christmas shopping is not getting any easier.
I am beginning to realize that it’s not so much the money that is the problem, its more like money management and killing your inner desire to get unique Christmas gifts for every person you know. They should teach this kind of stuff at college. So I’m learning this thing called prioritizing. It’s this philosophy where some people are more important than others like family and friends. The mail guy is important but not that important. The trick is to buy Christmas Holiday gifts for everyone but allocate some sort of spending limit.
I know it sounds like discrimination but I had a pretty good Christmas last year. Like with the mail guy, and the IT guy for that matter. I sent Christmas gift baskets to the mail room and the IT department. They loved the gift. I followed my sister through stores and picked out what kind of stuff she liked. Since my brother was in college now, I sent him money. He loved it. My mom got a huge Christmas fruit basket and a hand knit sweater, (paid for by me) and champagne flutes. My dad got a golf club, golf balls and tees. I’m the world’s greatest daughter and it is the easiest thing in the world to make my dad happy. Of course my Christmas gifts were the result of a series of mad dashes to the mall and random visits to websites. Hopefully this year, I’ll get my act a bit more together and put some more thought into the buying process.

My Struggle For A Stress Free Christmas
I have an addition to make to the American Dream. It should include having a stress-free Christmas. I mean sure people migrate here and start living and stuff, but has anyone ever paid any attention to how much people suffer from stress during Christmas time? I mean if we wanted to raise the bar on things, we’d tell people to try and have a kick back Christmas.
I’ve been trying to have a calm Christmas for years now. Although I’m getting better at it, I am no where near success. My main observation is that a lot of Christmas time stress comes from Christmas gifts. The anxiety of finding unique Christmas gifts on time, looking for wrapping paper, finding greeting cards, and arguing over how much money the guy wants for wrapping your Christmas Holiday Gifts. I tried to fix this by giving my whole family the gift of a Christmas holiday in Florida. It was complete disaster. My kids wanted to know where the snow was, we forgot to pack half our beach gear and we had to drag the kids on to the plane. So trips are definitely off the list. If you think it’s annoying when your kids ask ‘Are we there yet?’ in the car, trying sitting through it in an airplane where lots of people can stare at you. The next year I decided to just ask everyone what they wanted for Christmas. My daughter wanted a pony, my son wanted a snake and my husband wanted to move. It was another made dash to the mall looking frantically for unique Christmas gifts.
After that I developed a system. Everyone would get three gifts each. Even if we had a chicken laying gold eggs in the house, no one would see more than three Christmas gifts. And the third gift would be something to be shared with the entire family. That is the plan that has been holding me up for a while now. It makes my Christmas shopping for the family easier. I’m still trying to find a way to make it easier to buy Christmas gifts for the people at work. I find Christmas gift baskets to be a huge help, both at work and at home. It’s a great gift that the whole family can enjoy together and an even better way to send a gift to an entire department. Here’s to having an easier Christmas.
No More Jewelry On Christmas
I know they say ‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend’ I don’t argue with the point. I just wonder what they have against a ruby or sapphires. My friend has to be the luckiest woman I know. Her husband gets her jewelry every Christmas. I love the Christmas gifts that my boyfriend gets but, on paper, nothing beats Jewelry.
My friend on the other hand thinks otherwise. She read somewhere that at least ten thousand people buy the same piece of jewelry every year. It crushed her because it meant her Christmas gifts had no sentimental value. I admit she had a point. I mean just going into a store and buying a hot selling necklace doesn’t involve a lot of thought. So she told her husband that he was no longer allowed to buy jewelry for her. She wanted a decent thoughtful gift. She was really excited to see what she would get. Usually her Christmas holiday gifts were predictable, designer jewelry, perfume, clothes. I was curious too, I didn’t think her husband would be able to find sentimental gifts for her. I had seen him searching for unique Christmas gifts online without any luck. He even tried to call Google headquarters. He wanted to explain to the search engine exactly what he was looking for.
I was taken by complete surprise when, on Christmas day, my friend called me up crying. I wondered just how awful the Christmas gifts were to make her cry. After she calmed down she told me in detail how her husband had gotten her Christmas gift baskets, one full of fruit and the other full of chocolate and to top it all off, he had gotten her boxes of fruit covered chocolate! Fruit and Chocolate were her favorite things in the whole world. It was better than any jewelry she had ever received.

Getting Tagged For Your Christmas Gifts
I often wondered if there was a such thing as ‘Too much of a good thing?’ like a good thing can be in excess quantity. Chocolate is a good thing and I don’t care how much of it there is, it won’t be enough. Christmas gifts are a good thing and regardless that I’m over twenty-five, I still love getting Christmas gifts. My friend thinks other wise.
There was a time when gift certificates were a popular gift. My friend bought them and they were the total of her Christmas holiday gifts. She has been giving gift certificates to people on Christmas ever since. For her it was a good thing. There was no wrapping involved and she could buy all her gifts at one website. Sometimes she’d get discounts for purchasing so many. Then it happened; she was tagged as the person who always gave gift certificates for Christmas gifts. Apparently it was too much of a good thing. She didn’t realize she had been tagged until two years ago on Christmas Day. It was a gathering of friends and family and no-one particularly enthusiastic about opening her gift certificates. So she decided to do something about it next year. She began her Christmas shopping in October. She searched malls and websites alike looking for unique Christmas gifts for her friends and family. She was really impressed that every year I manage to do my Christmas shopping in twenty four days flat; she asked me what my secret was. What Secret? There is no secret. I push people ruthlessly out of the way when I’m at the mall and I quit sleeping all together in the last week so I can shop online.
About a week before Christmas last year, she called me up, she was all tears. She still hadn’t found the perfect Christmas gift for her mom and her sister. I suggested she try looking at some Christmas gift baskets. She was skeptical at first, Christmas gift baskets sounded a bit ordinary like gift certificates so I turned her on to Christmas fruit baskets. She absolutely loved the idea. Her Christmas gifts were some of the best that year. Everyone is dying to know what she’ll get this year.

The Fragrance oF Christmas In December
People throw the phrase, ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’ around a lot. I think the phrase, “It beginning to smell a lot like Christmas’ could do just as well. In fact I think it would be more universal. Have people ever really paid attention to how great Christmas Smells? All those wonderful cookies being baked, the gingerbread men, the peanut crunch and the hot chocolate. To me the smell of Christmas is more appealing than the look. The whole house smells edible.
I shared this thought with my brother and he says he too can smell Christmas. He can smell Christmas gifts and Christmas wrap. He predicts when mom is about to buy a new Christmas ornament or a very special Christmas gift basket. That isn’t really smelling Christmas, as much as it is smelling Christmas gifts but he’s lying. In all our attempts to find our Christmas holiday gifts, hidden by our mother, he has never really been successful at finding anything. Maybe it’s the tape brand we use. But all jokes aside, I do love the look of Christmas but I like the smell too. It could have a lot to do with my mom being a really great cook.
One of my other favorite Christmas smells is the scent of gourmet chocolate. We have a lot of gourmet chocolate around the house at Christmas time, but what I really like is the fruit covered in gourmet chocolate that my great grandma sends us. It’s like taking two of the greatest things on earth, i.e. fruit and chocolate, and making them into one. It beats all the Christmas holiday gifts that we get by a long shot.

The Christmas Fruit
At Christmas Dinner, you hear a lot of stuff like, “pass the gravy” or “Pass the yams”. At our Christmas table all you hear is “Pass the Fruit”. We eat our Christmas dinner with quiet determination and then we all move on to our beautiful Christmas fruit.
I don’t know who invented Christmas gift baskets or Christmas fruit baskets but the guy/girl was a genius. I personally think they deserve to go to heaven. They’ll have the people who invented chocolaty stuff to keep them company. My family sends out these really great Christmas gift baskets as Christmas gifts. They’re fruit and covered in chocolate. People absolutely love them and they often reply in kind. They send us similar Christmas holiday gifts. So at our dinner table, we enjoy our wonder Christmas spread, the really great chicken that mom makes and the mashed potatoes and that think savory gravy. But the minute we’re done, all we can think about is the fruit covered in chocolate.
We all personally think the fruit is begging us to eat it. Unfortunately since we all love the fruit so much, instead of passing the fruit when someone asks, we say, “Get it yourself!” As far as the fruit is concerned it’s every man/woman/ child for himself/herself. Grandma used to think it was silly. She would point out vehemently that we were arguing over fruit. My brother would point out we were actually arguing over chocolate covered fruit. But we only needed Gran to try it once; she crossed over to the fruit side immediately. She now joins in and says, “Pass the Fruit”. Gran is old and she has a walking stick. If we say “Get it yourself” to her, she pokes us with it. Since she’s old and we love her, we pass the fruit.

It’s Christmas
I dated this guy for a while. He liked to blame everything on the government. It didn’t matter who was in government at that time. He could blame Republicans and Democrats with equal enthusiasm. I was okay with it for a while, because it seemed like they were screwing up but then his criticism began to get really dumb.
His mom had just had hip surgery and she was going to be in a wheel chair for a while. It was near Christmas so I thought I’d take one of those nice Christmas Fruit baskets over for her. She loved it and was wheeling herself into the living room to talk to me when she accidently bumped the wall. My boyfriend went off blaming the government for making substandard wheelchairs and for approving the design of his house. Three days later, my car started acting up and I asked him to drive me to the mall so I could shop for my Christmas Holiday Gifts. He blamed the government for my car problem and then drove to the mall. It took us fifteen minutes to find parking and he blamed the government. I was really beginning to feel sorry for the government and thought I might end up sending Christmas gifts to city hall, they deserved a Christmas gift basket at the very least.
I had to pick out Christmas gifts for my anti-government boyfriend and my mom. Mom would be a piece of cake, but what could I get for him? I guess everyone is thinking he’s some guy stuck in the seventies with big hair, i.e. a hippie but he is actually a huge Red Sox fan. So I thought I could buy a nice Red Sox jersey for him. He was a pretty huge guy and they didn’t have his size. And it was the governments fault. As much as I hated doing it, I broke up with the guy before Christmas. It was because of the government.

Finding Christmas Gifts
For a lot of years I thought the secret to shopping successfully for Christmas holiday gifts lay in a nice balance between the number of shopping mall visits and online purchases. I never really stopped to think how often lady luck had been on my side during all my online shopping. I’ve always had a one in fifteen chance of getting ripped off while shopping online. Now that I think back to the earlier days when the internet was my first choice for finding unique Christmas gifts, I do remember several tings that looked highly suspicious.
The worst thing is these scams hit harder on Christmas when people are looking for their Christmas holiday gifts. That’s like Scrooge gone cyber. What kind of people try and scam others on Christmas anyway? So this happens a lot with stuff like Christmas gift vouchers. The ones that have those extended expiry dates and stuff can be a total scam. I received a Christmas gift basket a few years ago and it had some of these ‘fabulous’ gift certificates in them. I only managed to use one; the stores wouldn’t pass the other three. I thought it was because of where I was shopping, like a location thing, but now I know better. Personally I don’t think gift certificates are a nice thing to put in Christmas gift baskets. I prefer giving Christmas fruit baskets that I can purchase from very reliable people on the internet. There are some companies out there that are dedicated to saving online shoppers from being ripped off. It’s good to know someone is on our side. So be careful where you shop online, apparently you can now get your pocket picked or your credit card pinched online too.

Online Christmas Gifts
I was busy buying my Christmas gifts online like I always do. I shop at some very particular sites, they’re reliable in that they have really good stuff and bring in unique Christmas gifts for the online shopper. And although I am satisfied with them I decided to surf the net anyway and see if there was anything new. I came across this article saying that a lot off the Christmas gifts or any gifts that people buy online turn out to be fake. It’s really common in gift certificates and vouchers. And can happen with big name companies.
I was completely amazed. I remember a really long time ago, I had purchased some online gifts. They never made it to my doorstep. Since they didn’t cost much, I thought it was because of the holiday rush and I didn’t really do anything about it. I never thought for one minute that my gifts might have been fake. It makes me all the more glad that I now know exactly where I can shop safely online.
The article said something about always being careful about what kind of deal you’re getting. If something is too cheap, then it’s probably fake. The whole too-good-to-be-true thing. I thought this might be for really expensive and highly priced goods, but it can happen to almost everything like the very popular Christmas gift item, Christmas gift baskets. Yu could end up ordering one, an expensive one and might never show up at your door step. So I’m really glad I have my reliable list of stores to buy Christmas holiday gifts from. I know for a fact that if any of really important Christmas holiday gifts were not delivered I’d have something close to a heart attack.

The Holiday Fruit Tradition
Christmas as I remember it from my childhood was very different from the ones my kids experience. It was a much calmer time. My mom didn’t work until we were all grown up and moved out of the house and our Christmas holiday gifts were normally a surprise. We always thought they were the best most Unique Christmas Gifts ever. Mom would wrap and hide Christmas gifts while we were at school. I have to wrap them in the dead of night so that my kids don’t see them and then hiding them is even harder. My kids can wiggle into the smallest of places to search for their Christmas gifts.
I remember one such episode where in an attempt to hide presents I pushed a long thin box too far under a dresser and we had to use a broom to force it out on Christmas Day. We all looked forward to Christmas dinner. My Mother, who is an excellent cook, would make roast, meat pies, and mashed potatoes with cranberry sauce. At that time Christmas fruit baskets were very popular. We would receive a lot of Christmas fruit and mom would put it out for us to snack on. It was one of the greatest and most peaceful moments in my life. I’ve tried my best to give my kids the same experience. I feel guilty when I’m busy at work and they’re fixing lunch for themselves during the holidays but they are very understanding kids, and don’t complain about it.
I have however managed to keep the Christmas Fruits tradition alive. Christmas fruit has changed too over the time. Instead of the fruit bunched together in those brown baskets, they now have fruit bouquets and fruit dipped in gourmet chocolate. My kids love these Christmas gift baskets and it takes away a bit of the guilt I feel for not spending as much time with them.

The Fragnace of A Christmas Present
Last weekend I was watching an episode of Mr. Bean where he went shopping. There was this scene where he walks into the perfume section and nearly suffocates because of the fumes. I’m not a big fan of Britain’s humor but I like Mr. Bean and his antics. I can actually relate to him suffocating from too much perfume.
I have a colleague who wears so much perfume we can still smell her fifteen minutes after she has left the room. At first I thought she must use a lot of perfume, like an entire bottle everyday. I was wrong. I went shopping for my Christmas gifts a few days ago and wandered to the perfume section. There were so many scents in the air that I felt a little light headed. There was a sales girl showing off a perfume to some women. She said one squirt of the stuff and the scent would last for three days. If used consistently, it wouldn’t even wash out. I was rude enough to ask her what I would have to do if I wanted to change my brand. Would I need to bleach my clothes? I don’t think perfume makes a very good Christmas gift.
In my opinion it says, ‘Here, you stink. Merry Christmas’. I visited all my usual stores, they get great stuff. Most of my widely complemented unique Christmas gifts come from them. I was done with the day’s Christmas holiday gift shopping by lunch. But I had been saving the time because I needed to look for a new store. It was for Christmas fruit baskets. I usually ordered them online but this time I had a coupon. Christmas gift baskets were a major part of my Christmas holiday gifts. They were what I usually gave at work. In fact we even sent them out as corporate gifts. It took me an entire thirty minutes to find the store. It was really pretty inside and they had so much more variety than I saw on the website. I redeemed my coupon and got a box of chocolate strawberries for free. On my way back to my car, I passed the perfume section again. I thought, ‘What the hell’ and bought the everlasting perfume for my colleague. She was delighted to receive it.

Buying Christmas Gifts Favourable
I have come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as optimum efficiency. Everyone makes plans to work at optimum efficiency, doing the laundry at optimum efficiency, using fuel at optimum efficiency, completing office work at optimum efficiency. The reason I don’t think there is any such thing as optimum efficiency, is that no one notices if you’re working at optimum efficiency. If you get your work done before time, you will be judged as having ‘nothing to do’ and will subsequently be given something to do.
Like me and my Christmas shopping. I used get my Christmas shopping done at optimum efficiency. I had my Christmas gifts wrapped and well hidden a week before Christmas. I had mailed any and all greeting cards I was planning to send out. I had placed orders for various Christmas gift baskets to be delivered. I had made sure my gifts were just what everyone wanted. I had taken a lot of time and even more planning to buy the best and most unique Christmas gifts ever. By the third week of December I would be ready to sit comfortably on the big sofa and say, ‘Christmas, Bring it on’
And since I dared Christmas, it accepted. I had my family pour in to see me, announce their delight that I had finished my Christmas shopping so early and then ask me to wrap their Christmas holiday gifts. They would remind me not to forget the bow. I longed to tell them that the whole point of completing my Christmas shopping before hand was so I could relax and enjoy the holiday festivities. Not so I could wrap presents for Judy, Ann and Chuck. So like I said, there is no such thing as optimum efficiency. If you finish your Christmas shopping and wrapping early, you have your family’s Christmas shopping and wrapping to fall behind on. I now take as much time as possible to buy Christmas gifts and I am a proud Christmas slacker.

Giving Gifts on Christmas
Around Christmas time, a lot of charities go into over drive. They work all year round and Christmas is show time for them. We have several charities working in our locality and we try and contribute to as many as we can and not just in monetary terms. We put in a lot of time and help out with the arrangements. For a few years, the charities have been teaming up around Christmas. They divide the work and that way they have more funds for different things. One charity takes over Christmas dinner, another takes over the Christmas gifts for the kids. Someone else provides for Christmas trees. They all come together to give the under privileged a better Christmas.
When people see the charities working together like this, it makes them want to contribute more. A lot more people put in time to help generate funds. There were some really unique Christmas gifts for the kids last year thanks to the collective effort by everyone and people brought all sorts of Christmas gift baskets and Christmas fruit baskets for the big Christmas dinner. Our neighborhood was really proud of our efforts last year and we’re hoping to do something even bigger and better this year.
I think it’s the true spirit of Christmas, giving and sharing and while we are all busy buying Christmas holiday gifts, we should think of others. A lot of people might say it’s hard to be charitable with the times being so tough and all, but I disagree. We make allowance for everything else. It was in this spirit that I had three fruit baskets delivered to the Christmas dinner being hosted by the charities.

Our neighborhood looks like the perfect Christmas post card in December. We have snow piled on houses and icicles hanging from tree branches and lots of Christmas lights. Once the Christmas holidays begin, the place is full of kids running around with their sleighs and having snowball fights.
I don’t get to enjoy much of the scenery as I’m locked up in my room wrapping, labeling and coding Christmas gifts. My husband thinks it’s very unhealthy for me. Two years ago he made an incredible effort and helped me out with a lot of my work. We had the wrapping, labeling, coding done two days in advance. We had scotch tape stuck to our holiday sweaters and ribbon tangled in our hair. But as we sat on the sofa together and watched the snow fall, I felt absolutely tranquil. To add to this perfect picture, a group of kids showed up to sing Christmas carols. They were kids from around the block and my son ran to join them. We stood in the door way and listened. The kids were cute but rather off tune. My son hadn’t helped much since he didn’t know all the words. It was cold and most of them were shaking as they sang.
Although I was tired from all the work I had put into wrapping the Christmas holiday gifts, I felt the urge to make something for them, as a nice encouragement. Like hot cocoa or something. I went into the kitchen and whipped some up. I hadn’t got around to baking any Christmas cookies yet so instead I brought out the beautiful fruit bouquet I had received from my sister. She had sent it in place of the usual Christmas gift baskets that she sends. It was a really unique Christmas gift and I thought to share it with the kids. We all stood out in the cold, with the snow falling lightly and enjoyed the Christmas fruit and hot chocolate. I owe that wonderful experience to my husband.

Fresh Fruit Gifts on Christmas
A year ago a group of farmers held a fruit exhibition in our local area. Everyone was crazy excited about it. We wanted to see some seriously fresh fruit; some people were even under the impression that there would be fruit trees. They weren’t disappointed.
There was a lot of fresh fruit and a few fruit trees as well. And while some of us wondered how they got the trees all the way here, what most of us wondered was, what were these little old ladies thinking when they decided to do this. All the farmers at the fruit festival were petit little old ladies. They looked so grandmotherly that you just wanted to hug them. And they had excellent fruit. Everyone bought a lot of it and for the rest of the week we received Christmas fruit baskets from a lot of the neighbors. There was even a local business there that bought the fruit. They made some really nice fruit bouquets and I guessed they were stocking up for the Christmas orders. Their Christmas gift baskets are very popular and I often buy them for Christmas gifts.
The ladies themselves had some really terrific fruits baskets on display and were even demonstrating how to arrange fruits in a basket to make your own unique Christmas gifts. Since people never tire of fruit as Christmas holiday gifts, they had a really huge audience and an even bigger profit from their produce. I bought some excellent oranges and gifted half to my mom who has recently taken an interest in making jams, the rest of the half were made into orange juice and devoured by my family.

To Buy A Christmas Gift
I had one of those long weekends with nothing to do and I ended up watching old movies. Not old, old movies, just ones that are on Cable T.V., the old movies that you can see for free on T.V. I was watching ‘In Her Shoes’. It was fun to watch and I remember thinking if my sister would be upset with me for trying on/using her shoes, not that I can. We don’t wear the same size.
The thing is my sister loves shoes. I think she has more shoes than she does clothes. The other problem is she hates the shoes I pick out but I love the ones she gets. All this means that I can’t buy shoes for her as a Christmas gift. This is a huge problem since everyone knows what to get her, a pair of shoes, but I can’t buy them for her. One way would be for me to take her along when I go to buy my Christmas holiday gifts and ask her to just pick her favorite. But I really don’t like doing that.
So how do I get around to picking a nice pair of shoes for my sister? The answer to that is I don’t, I just give her the money for it. And I know it sounds awful giving someone money on Christmas but I have found a nice way to deliver my Christmas gift. I buy a Christmas gift baskets and put any shoe shaped ornament/keychain in it. Then I get a shoe catalog or magazine and put a decorative envelop for the money inside it. When I put it all together like that, it makes a really great and unique Christmas gifts. She gets shoes from me and everyone’s happy.

Christmas Shopping Theme
I don’t know which is harder; finding unique Christmas gifts, staying in budget or making Christmas gifts at home. Since I’ve managed the first one successfully, the second one partially and the third one not at all, I’d have to say you can almost always find unique Christmas gifts. The trick is to know where to look and what to look for.
Normally the place to look for nice Christmas holiday gifts would be anyplace your friends and family visit frequently. With so many new things out on their shelves and the frequent visits by your loved ones, they will have picked something or a few things that they really like. So I suggest you take a stroll around the mall with them. By the time you’re done you’ll come away knowing what has appealed to your friend.
The second thing is staying in budget. Your friend or family member might have picked out around twenty things that he/she likes but you can’t buy them all. So to decide on what would make a unique Christmas gifts for a particular individual, look at their entire selection. You’re likely to spot a pattern. I did this with my mom. She is pretty old fashioned and is beginning to settle into her role as a grandmother. She took me to about a hundred stores for Christmas gift baskets, holiday candy and chocolate. So it was a bit obvious she wanted chocolate, preferably gourmet chocolate. And she wanted it wrapped nicely. So when I went shopping on my own, I bought a really tasty fruit bouquet for her. It was like a super Christmas fruit baskets and I knew she’d love it.
And as for the third thing, making your Christmas gifts at home, you’ll need to Google ‘Making Christmas Presents At Home For Dummies’

Edible Arrangements coupons
Coupons are the certificates given to consumers to obtain a discount when purchasing goods or services. In marketing a coupon is a ticket or document that can be exchanged for a financial discount or rebate when purchasing a product.
The prices of all types of commodities are on the rise today. People are searching for newer methods to bring down their expenditure. In the same way, retailers are looking for new ways to market their good and increase their sales. On particular method which helps both the retailer and the consumer is the use of coupons.
Customarily, coupons are issued by manufacturers of consumer packaged goods or by retailers, to be used in retail stores as a part of sales promotions. They are often widely distributed through mail, magazines, newspapers, the Internet, and mobile devices such as cell phones.
Internet coupons have become popular recently, because there is no postal cost, and the printing cost is borne by the user (who prints the coupons) rather than the businesses issuing them. Mobile coupons have emerged as a new and green alternative as no printing is required whatsoever. Mobile coupons as a method of coupon redemption are gaining in popularity as more consumers utilize their mobile devices for uses beyond voice.
Coupons are highly beneficial to both parties. On the retailer’s side, they help him to advertise his product and entice customers to buy it. On the consumers’ side, the coupons help them to try out or buy a product at reduced price. For instance, think that a new product has been launched in the market. Most of the products available in the market today are priced moderate to high. Hence, the consumer would be circumspect about buying this new product without knowing if it works well. By making use of coupons, he can buy this product at a discounted price. On the other hand, retailers can also increase their sales and wrap up the primary stock in quick time.
The discount offers are considered as one of major key to increase the sales and profit levels. Edible Arrangements used this approach for helping their customer and give discount coupons at all the arrangements. Edible Arrangements has a fresh fruit bouquet to make any occasion special - from birthdays, anniversaries and congratulations to business events and client gifts. Our bouquets are made fresh with premium fruit arranged in a variety of stunning displays.
Edible Arrangements Coupons are also helpful in developing habits a permanent class of users of offered products. Both the online and offline discount coupons are offered for free and ‘free’ is a word that every person of this globe wants to enjoy. This is the reason why these free discount tickets are used as a marketing tool to increase the customer levels for company’s products.

Easter Day Fruits Baskets
Easter is the most important religious feast in the Christian liturgical year. Christians believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead three days after his crucifixion, and celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day, or Easter Sunday, two days after Good Friday. The year of his death and resurrection is variously estimated between the years 26 and 36 AD.
Easter as a holiday is the result of many different cultures and religions combined. The history of the Easter basket has a similar lineage. Some of the origins are from ancient pagan customs, some stem from a Judeo Christian background. Easter Gift baskets make great gifts because of their versatility. They can be personalized to each recipient's particular tastes, can be designed around particular themes, and their presentation makes them a delight to receive.
Easter baskets grew out of the more out of modern traditions and symbology of Christianity. To Christians, Easter represents the resurrection of Christ. Lent is the season that proceeds Easter and lasts for forty six days prior to Easter Sunday. This season of Lent is begun on Fat Tuesday. This is the last time to party before the season of lent. During the Lent season, Christians believe you must give up something and fast until after Easter. The fast can include giving up meat, eggs, and dairy. The custom of having a large Easter supper represents the end of the Lenten fast. In more ancient times, this large feast was brought to the church in large baskets, hence the connection to treats in Easter Fruit baskets today. This basket was blessed by the clergy much like the ancient Hebrews brought their first seedlings to the temple to be blessed.
