No More Jewelry On Christmas

I know they say ‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend’ I don’t argue with the point. I just wonder what they have against a ruby or sapphires. My friend has to be the luckiest woman I know. Her husband gets her jewelry every Christmas. I love the Christmas gifts that my boyfriend gets but, on paper, nothing beats Jewelry.

My friend on the other hand thinks otherwise. She read somewhere that at least ten thousand people buy the same piece of jewelry every year. It crushed her because it meant her Christmas gifts had no sentimental value. I admit she had a point. I mean just going into a store and buying a hot selling necklace doesn’t involve a lot of thought. So she told her husband that he was no longer allowed to buy jewelry for her. She wanted a decent thoughtful gift. She was really excited to see what she would get. Usually her Christmas holiday gifts were predictable, designer jewelry, perfume, clothes. I was curious too, I didn’t think her husband would be able to find sentimental gifts for her. I had seen him searching for unique Christmas gifts online without any luck. He even tried to call Google headquarters. He wanted to explain to the search engine exactly what he was looking for.

I was taken by complete surprise when, on Christmas day, my friend called me up crying. I wondered just how awful the Christmas gifts were to make her cry. After she calmed down she told me in detail how her husband had gotten her Christmas gift baskets, one full of fruit and the other full of chocolate and to top it all off, he had gotten her boxes of fruit covered chocolate! Fruit and Chocolate were her favorite things in the whole world. It was better than any jewelry she had ever received.
