A Christmas Party For My Mom

Last year the job of organizing the family Christmas party fell to me. I’ assuming my mom passed it on to me is because she thinks I have time to spare with work and buying and wrapping Christmas gifts. Mom thinks that if you don’t have kids, you have all the time in the world even with your 9 to 5 job and taking care of the neighbor’s dog.

I can’t imagine how I could’ve said no. I mean my mom has super powers. I can’t say no to her on a normal day, around Christmas, it’s impossible. So I’m like ‘yeah mom, I’ll do the party this year, you relax, want me to buy your Christmas Holiday gifts for you?’ I’m a complete sap for this emotional stuff my mom pulls. It starts out with a hopeful look and ends with a long sigh from my mother. Another reason I couldn’t say no to the party was because she asked so formally.

She put on her church dress and brought one of those Christmas gift baskets for me and holiday cookies. Normally I always visit her because she doesn’t like me living in an apartment. It was like her third visit so I was too happy to keep my head on anyway. I may be a grown girl but when it comes to alone time with my mommy, I’m about three. She stayed for three hours and gave me some really great ides for unique Christmas gifts. It’s like she is the Da Vinci of unique Christmas gifts. So with all that mommy love and the really awesome early Christmas gifts, I just couldn’t say no. The powers that come with motherhood!
